Continue reading to see photos of Wola and Śródmieście, made by my friend.
Wola
Kościół św. Karola Boromeusza
In Wola districts there are two churches by the name of Saint Carlo Borromeo (Polish: Karol Boromeusz). One is a church by the Powązki cemetery, the other one is on the Chłodna Street. The one I'm writing about is on the Chłodna Street. It was built in 1849, partly destroyed during the Second World War and rebuilt in 1956. It looks great, with the figures of saints on sides, and I recommend to see how it looks like, if you like sightseeing churches. Today I'm gonna show you night views and the fair in front of it.
The main attraction of the Christmas fair was definitely Santa Claus and his reindeers. Children could get a photo with Santa made by professional photographer. Paid by parents how much they wanted to pay it for.
Śródmieście
Śródmieście means "the city centre" but it's also the name of the district in Warsaw.
Pałac Kultury i Nauki
Palace of Culture and Science is one of the city symbols, very controversial because of its history. It was built by Polish, but it was "a gift" from the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics, when Poland was dependent on them. I like the Palace, I have lots of good memories related to it. I disagree with people wanting to destroy it. Luckily, it'd be difficult, as it's already a "historic building" according to the law.PKiN (as it's abbreviated in Poland) is a major landmark in Warsaw. It's visible from afar and it's a good spot to refer to when you're lost. It's also easy to get to it by the public communication, as it's in the city centre. But you already know about it if you've read my post titles basic info about Warsaw.
It's a great landmark, if it's not covered in fog. Like on those photos:
Please excuse us the blurriness. More about PKiN in the future.
Enjoy the Christmas!
